Can The Teeth Be Fixed Without Braces?

Dental problems are one of the most important health problems that have negative effects on both physical health and aesthetics. In certain dental diseases, braces treatment should be applied, which is met with concern in terms of aesthetics or difficulty in use. However, many people wonder if their teeth will improve without braces treatment. In our article, you can find out to whom braces should be applied and whether you have any alternatives other than braces to straighten the teeth.

What is Braces Treatment?

Braces treatment is done for:

  • Smile design,
  • Irregularities in the tooth and jaw joint,
  • Crooked teeth,
  • To remove the gaps between the teeth,
  • Arrangement of tooth - jaw anatomy in order to apply other necessary dental treatments

It is also known as orthodontic treatment. The teeth are brought into position by applying a certain amount of continuous force by means of metal-based braces placed on the handles called brackets placed on the teeth. It is a long-term treatment method.

How is Braces Treatment Applied?

Braces treatment is applied using different types of brackets and apparatus. The methods used are as follows:

Metal Bracket: It is the most common treatment method. It allows the application of force on the teeth and jaw bones at the desired level and time. In this way, it offers very effective results. However, it is a method that is not generally preferred in people with aesthetic anxiety.

Ceramic Bracket: Brackets covered with tooth-colored ceramic are preferred to obtain a more aesthetic appearance. However, it is less effective in applying force to the teeth compared to metallic brackets.

Lingual Bracket (Invisible Braces): It is applied to the back of the teeth facing the tongue. Therefore, it is not noticeable from the outside. In this way, it is the most aesthetically successful braces treatment.

Aligner (Transparent Plate): It is produced from transparent plastic material. It is used to make it suitable for the design of the apparatus by passively applying force to the teeth.

Will Teeth Heal By Himself Without Orthodontic Treatment?

Unfortunately, it is not possible for the teeth to straighten spontaneously without braces treatment. There are many reasons for this situation. However, the main reason is the necessity of applying an external force in order to correct the muscle and bone structure, since it is in a settled position. This strength is possible with braces treatment. It is not possible to make a noticeable difference in teeth without orthodontic treatment.

If the reason for your hesitation from braces treatment is aesthetic concern, it is possible to prevent this anxiety with the braces used today. Because you can use a transparent bracket as well as a lingual bracket, which is impossible to notice from the outside. In this way, it is ensured that your teeth are brought to the desired position while there is no negative aesthetic in terms of aesthetics.

How to Tell if the Teeth Will Come Out Crooked?

There are certain signs that the teeth will come out crooked. These symptoms are usually as follows:

  • Genetic disorder
  • Children's long-term use of pacifiers and thumb sucking
  • Unnecessary extraction of milk teeth in children
  • Breathing through the mouth
  • Hospitalization and feeding disorders of children or adults
  • Adult's 20-year-old female problems

Can Precautions Be Taken for Crooked Teeth?

Dentists know how the teeth will come out from the milk teeth. Especially if there is a problem in the family, the probability of this problem being in the child is high. For this reason, before your child's permanent teeth come out, you should have dental check-ups every 3 - 6 months when milk teeth come out. At the same time, as a result of the evaluation with dental x-ray, the formation of crooked teeth can be prevented.

In the light of the above-mentioned, it is possible to correct the teeth that are likely to come out crooked with regular dentist control from childhood, without any orthodontic treatment. However, the distortions that occur after permanent teeth erupt should be treated with braces.
