False Facts About Root Canal Treatment

Pulp is the name given to the vein and nerve tissue in the inner structure of the teeth. In cases such as trauma, deep caries, this tissue becomes infected. The treatment of this tooth infection, which can cause severe pain as well as painless, is called root canal treatment. There is a lot of misinformation about root canal treatment. This information sometimes causes people to avoid the treatment in question.

Flase Facts About Root Canal Treatment

Commonly known misconceptions about root treatment are as follows:

Tooth Extraction Is Better Than Root Canal Treatment

Preserving your natural tooth is always the best option. Therefore, tooth extraction should be prevented as long as possible and the tooth should be saved with root treatment.

Root Canal Treatment is a Difficult and Complex Treatment

Teeth are composed of hard and soft tissues. There is a hard enamel tissue on the outside, and a cavity consisting of a bundle of vessels and nerves extending along the root on the inside. In this cavity, called the root canal, there is a connective tissue called pulp, which is responsible for the development, nutrition and defense of the tooth and gives vitality to the tooth.

Root treatment is required as a result of infection of the pulp tissue. If the treatment in question is performed by specialists, no problem is encountered. At the same time, this treatment is an easy treatment that is often used in dentistry.

Root canal treatment kills the tooth

In fact, root canal treatment is done to clean damaged and somehow dead root nerves and bacteria there. Therefore, it is ensured that the tooth heals and fulfills the necessary functions in the mouth for many years.

Root Canal Treatment Is A Painful Procedure

The majority of patients who apply to the dentist or endodontist for treatment already have a serious toothache. Since the factors causing this pain will be removed with the endodontic treatment, the pain is completely or at least largely eliminated after the treatment. That is, on the contrary, the pain will decrease or disappear.

Thanks to the local anesthesia applied during the treatment, there is no pain or feeling of pain. There is usually no pain after the effect of anesthesia wears off.

It Takes So Long, It Requires Staying on the Dental Chair For Hours

Contrary to popular belief, the treatment in question is not a very long treatment. It takes a maximum of one hour for the patient to sit in the chair, perform the anesthesia and finish the treatment. Thanks to the development of the devices and systems used to expand the root canals, the procedure is completed very easily and comfortably.

Root canal treatment is performed on every tooth that causes pain

There is no such thing as root treatment for every aching or decaying tooth. Certain criteria are required for the application of this treatment. In other words, only filling treatment is preferred in the first place for caries that signal with mild pain that may be caused by bacteria in the mouth or that do not cause pain at all.

The life of the treated tooth is shortened

With a well-performed root canal treatment and upper structure, the life of the tooth is not shortened. Depending on the removal of the pulp tissue that provides the vitality of the tooth, the treated tooth may become more susceptible to fracture. At this point, the tooth is filled or crowned for the upper restoration.

Failure to apply the necessary treatment in cases that require root treatment causes the tooth to be pulled out. Therefore, the treatment in question allows you to use the tooth for many years instead of shortening the life of the tooth.

It Is A Very Expensive Procedure

The money to be paid for treatment is much less than other treatment options. In addition, the treatment ends in a much shorter time and your other teeth will not be damaged.

It should not be forgotten that nothing can replace your own teeth.
