Since tooth fracture is traumatic, the dentist should be visited as soon as possible. Because untreated broken tooth can cause various health problems. However, if you can't go to the dentist right away and treat a broken tooth, you can temporarily relieve the pain.

Why does the tooth break?

The tooth can break due to various conditions. These situations are as follows:

  • Grinding teeth during sleep
  • Osteoclasis
  • Too many filled teeth in the mouth
  • Biting hard food such as walnuts or hazelnuts
  • Consuming extremely cold or hot foods
  • Impact on the tooth

What Should You Do for a Broken Tooth?

When teeth are broken, it usually does not cause pain. However, if left untreated, it causes toothache over time. For this reason, you should consult a dentist as soon as possible to treat broken teeth and ensure that the necessary treatment is applied.

In mild fractures, broken tooth treatment is quite easy. However, more complex procedures may be required for severe fractures.

What Are the Symptoms of a Broken Tooth That Requires Dental Treatment?

Broken tooth is a problem that needs to be treated in every way, whether it causes pain or not. However, if you are experiencing the following situations, you should immediately consult a dentist for broken tooth treatment.

  • Swelling of the gums
  • Pain while eating
  • Sensitization of teeth
  • Periodic pain
  • Formation of pressure sensitivity
  • The possibility of cutting the tongue due to a broken tooth

A broken tooth can cause infection along the gum line and pulp over time. It also causes abscess formation. For this reason, even if you do not have any pain, you should get a broken tooth treatment.

When your tooth is broken, you do not have the opportunity to go to the dentist immediately and if you have pain, you can relieve your pain with some methods.

Natural Methods for Broken Toothache

The methods you can apply for toothache are as follows:

  • Salt has antibacterial properties. It also has pain relieving properties. Therefore, rinsing your mouth with salt water will kill germs and relieve the pain of a broken tooth.
  • Onion is antiseptic and antimicrobial and relieves pain by killing microbes that cause infection. You can chew raw onions or put them on a broken tooth.
  • Baking soda is one of the most commonly used substances for toothache. You can mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda with a glass of water and rinse your mouth for 30 seconds.
  • The sulfur compounds in garlic help relieve your pain. For this, you can grate 2 garlics, warm them with olive oil on the stove, and rub them on your aching tooth.
  • Clove oil is also an effective method that can be used for broken toothache. For this, you can pour a few drops of clove oil on a cotton ball and put it on your aching tooth. You can also mix a few drops of clove oil in half a glass of water and rinse your mouth with this water.
  • Ginger is a good antibacterial. It is quite effective at killing bacteria. Chewing a piece of fresh ginger until it has all its juices can seriously relieve your pain.
  • Ice numbs the nerve endings and helps relieve toothache. Therefore, you can make a cold compress. You can wrap the ice in a thin cotton cloth and hold it on your cheek near the aching tooth.
  • Wheatgrass has natural antibacterial properties that can relieve toothache. It also fights tooth decay. By extracting the wheatgrass juice, you can use this juice as a mouthwash. Chewing wheatgrass will also work.

Even if these methods relieve your pain, you should remember that it is temporary. Constantly applying these methods and not taking the necessary steps to treat broken teeth can cause bigger problems. Therefore, you should make an appointment with the dentist as soon as possible.
